Why dance?  Why fitness?

It is evident by many researchers and practitioners that dance and fitness offers many advantages to us all no matter our age or ability. From Marie Jordan-Shilling's experience of dance and fitness, it is evident to her that dance allows us to express ourselves in some way.

Dance and movement has always been a popular activity for centuries but music has allowed these activities to increase over many years allowing them to become a leisure pursuit. According to The Keep Fit Association of England, "These movement based classes to music were designed to promote activity and provide a social environment" (Debbie Lawrence 2004:v) Dance and movement to music allows safe and effective methods that allows us to improve our overall health and fitness including; Cardiovascular, Flexibility, Balance and

Co-ordination. (Lawrence 2004: 1)

From this research and Marie's experience of dance and fitness, Marie knew that it was imperative to ensure that Fast Forward Dance & Fitness create fun, creative classes to music that allows all participants to have fun and express themselves through creativity, sociability and movement.
